Optical Fiber

the optical fiber is a conduit used habitually in networks of information; a very thin thread of transparent material, glass or plastic, by which there are sent pulses of light that represent the information to transmitting. the bundle of light propagates for the core of the fiber. the light source can be laser or LED.

the fibers are in use widely in telecommunications, since they allow to send great quantity of information to a great distance, with speeds similar to those of radio. they are a conduit that is immune to the electromagnetic interferences.
